Battery, Power Supply & Solar Charging

How is the Reolink Go PT Plus powered and is the battery rechargeable?

A: The camera is powered by an onboard 6000mAh rechargeable battery. It can be recharged via its built-in USB Type-C power port using a standard DC 5V/2A power adapter or continuously topped up using an optional Reolink Solar Panel.

How does solar charging work with the Reolink Go PT Plus and what are the solar panel requirements?

A: Connecting an optional Reolink Solar Panel converts sunlight into electricity to continuously trickle-charge the 6000mAh battery. The solar panel features an IP65 weatherproof rating and delivers a 6V maximum output voltage (530mA max current). Note that solar charging operates between 0C and 45C (32F to 113F) and will temporarily halt if ambient temperatures drop below freezing.

What power adapter specifications are required for charging the camera?

A: The camera requires a standard DC 5V, 2A USB power adapter. Users should avoid high-voltage quick chargers or adapters exceeding 5V to prevent damaging the internal battery management circuitry.

Why is the Reolink Go PT Plus not designed for 24/7 continuous recording?

A: Battery-powered 4G cellular cameras like the Reolink Go PT Plus are engineered to conserve battery capacity and minimize cellular mobile data usage. Instead of continuous 24/7 recording, the device remains in a low-power standby mode and wakes up instantly when PIR motion is detected or when live view is accessed.

How can users monitor battery status and optimize battery life?

A: Real-time battery percentages and charging indicators can be monitored anytime in the Reolink App settings. To optimize battery longevity:

Adjust PIR motion sensor sensitivity to prevent unwanted wake-up triggers.
Configure motion detection schedules to disable alerts during low-priority hours.
Position the camera in an area with strong 4G cellular signal strength.
Pair the camera with a Reolink Solar Panel angled directly toward sunlight.

PIR Sensor, Smart AI Detections & Alert Options

How does the built-in PIR motion sensor work on the Reolink Go PT Plus?

A: The camera utilizes a Passive Infrared (PIR) thermal motion sensor with a 120-degree horizontal detection angle and an adjustable detection range up to 10 meters (33 feet). It detects body heat signatures from moving humans, vehicles, and animals to trigger instant recording and alerts.

What smart AI detection capabilities are supported on the device?

A: Onboard AI processing enables intelligent identification and filtering for:

What alert options and deterrents can be triggered upon motion detection?

A: When motion or AI targets are detected, the camera can trigger:

Push Notifications sent directly to your mobile phone via the Reolink App.
Email Alerts with attached image snapshots or video clips.
Customizable Audio Warnings / Sirens played through the camera speaker.
Spotlight Illumination to deter unauthorized visitors.

What causes false PIR alarms and how can they be minimized?

A: False alarms occur if the PIR sensor points directly at bright sunlight, swaying tree branches, reflective water surfaces, or hot vehicle exhausts. To minimize false triggers:

What are the recommended placement and angle guidelines for installing the PIR motion sensor?

A: Install the camera 2 to 2.5 meters (7 to 8 feet) above the ground, angled slightly downward. For optimal detection performance, position the camera so moving objects cross across the PIR sensor's field of view sideways rather than moving directly toward the camera lens.

Onboard Storage, Cloud & Software Compatibility

What local storage capacity is supported on the Reolink Go PT Plus?

A: The camera contains a MicroSD card slot located beneath the rubber cover on the lens assembly that supports MicroSD cards with storage capacities up to 128GB.

Does the Reolink Go PT Plus support Reolink Cloud storage?

A: Yes, the Reolink Go PT Plus supports Reolink Cloud storage in selected countries and regions, enabling motion event recordings to be automatically backed up off-site for enhanced video security.

Which operating systems, mobile apps, and smart home platforms are compatible with the camera?

A:

Computers: Windows PC and Mac OS via the Reolink Client.
Mobile Devices: iOS and Android via the official Reolink App.
Smart Home Integration: Fully compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant for live voice streaming to smart displays.
Supported Network Protocols: SSL, TCP/IP, UDP, UPnP, SMTP, NTP, and P2P.

How many user accounts and simultaneous video streams are supported?

A:

Can the camera be connected directly to a Reolink NVR or third-party software over ONVIF/RTSP?

A: No. Battery-powered 4G cellular cameras like the Reolink Go PT Plus do not support ONVIF protocols, RTSP streams, or direct pairing to Reolink NVRs in order to conserve battery power and cellular data usage.

Setup, Installation & Status LED Troubleshooting

How do you set up the Reolink Go PT Plus using a SIM card and the Reolink App?

A:

Activate your Nano SIM card on a smartphone or through your mobile carrier (Ensure any SIM PIN code is disabled).
Tilt the camera lens sphere, open the rubber cover, and insert the Nano SIM card (Gold contacts facing down, cut corner inward) and MicroSD card (Gold contacts facing up).
Slide the power switch to ON. Observe the status LED and listen for the voice prompt "Network connection succeeded".
Open the Reolink App, tap "+", scan the QR code on the camera body or manually input the 16-digit UID, create an admin password, and assign a camera name.

What do the Status LED light patterns and voice prompts signify during setup troubleshooting?

A:

Red LED solid then flashes: SIM card cannot be recognized, or SIM PIN code is enabled.
Red LED solid then flashes slowly (once/sec): Camera failed to register to the mobile carrier network.
Red LED solid then flashes quickly (3 times/sec): Cellular data call failed or manual APN configuration is required.
Red LED solid, then Blue LED flashes and turns off: Network connection failed.
Red LED solid, then Blue LED flashes and stays solid: Network connection succeeded.

How do you mount the Reolink Go PT Plus to a wall, ceiling, or tree?

A:

Wall Mount: Drill holes using the mounting template, install drywall anchors, screw the security mount base to the wall, attach the camera, and tighten the antenna upward or horizontally.
Ceiling Mount: Pull the security mount button, unscrew the ceiling bracket plate, fix the plate to the ceiling, align the camera base, and rotate clockwise until locked into place.
Tree Mount: Thread the provided loop strap through the mounting bracket slots and fasten it securely around a tree trunk or post.
Important Orientation Note: Mount the camera upside down when placed outdoors to prevent water from collecting inside the microphone hole.

How do you perform a factory default reset on the Reolink Go PT Plus?

A: Rotate the camera lens sphere to expose the black rubber protective flap next to the card slots. Unplug the rubber cover to reveal the reset hole. While the camera is powered on, insert the included reset needle into the reset hole and press and hold the button for several seconds until you hear an audio prompt confirming that factory default settings have been restored.

What troubleshooting steps should be taken if cellular network connection fails?

A:

Unrecognized SIM: Verify SIM direction (Gold contacts facing down) and ensure it is fully clicked into the slot.
PIN Lock Error: Put the SIM card into a smartphone and turn off the SIM PIN lock setting.
Low Signal: Move the camera to an outdoor location with stronger cellular signal coverage.
Data / APN Failure: Confirm your cellular plan has active data remaining. If required by your operator, import custom APN settings manually via the Reolink App.
